MARSA — In a shocking turn of events, local fishermen have traded in their traditional nets for high-tech WiFi routers, claiming it gives them the upper hand in catching fish now addicted to social media.
”We noticed the fish were too busy scrolling through Facebook and Instagram to even look at our bait,” said veteran fisherman Tumas, as he secured a router to his boat. “With high-speed internet, we can now lure them in like swiping right on a fish Tinder!”
Catching Fish the 21st Century Way
Fishermen believe that by streaming viral cat videos directly onto the water’s surface, they’re increasing the odds of luring in more fish. “They’re like, ‘Look at that fancy fish!’ and boom—straight into the net!” added Karmenu.
“It’s all about the signal strength. If the router can reach the bottom of the sea, we’re golden. Who needs nets?”
When questioned about the implications for the fishing industry, Marija, a marine biologist, said, “I mean, it’s Malta. Anything can happen. I half-expect them to start using drones next to find the fish scrolling through their phones.”
