VALLETTA —In an unexpected twist of events, a newly discovered species of fish in the Grand Harbour has boldly declared itself the ‘Sustainable Sustainability Minister.’ This marine creature, named Aħmar by local divers, has been spotted swimming in circles reciting famous Maltese environmental slogans.
Eyewitnesses report that Aħmar has taken to circulating around the marina, rallying other fish to join its cause for sustainability. “If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the pollution!” it was heard chanting, following up with an enthusiastic splash.
”I never thought I’d see the day when a fish could demand more pastizzi for its efforts — but here we are!”
The declaration has caused quite a stir among local officials, with some calling for immediate action from the Planning Authority to recognize Aħmar’s newfound role. Discussions include the implementation of underwater garbage collection policies and encouraging marine life to recycle old fishing nets. Environment Minister Miriam Bellanti was quick to respond, stating, “We might need a translator, but hey, whatever it takes!”
Fishy Politics?
Maltese locals are amused, with many considering Aħmar a better politician than some currently in office. One resident remarked, “At least this fish swims in circles for a good cause and doesn’t just swim around in circles politically!”
While Aħmar’s intentions seem noble, critics question whether the fish can deliver on its promises. “What does it know about waste management?” asked Pawlu, a skeptical environmentalist. “I mean, can it even vote?“
At press time, Aħmar was seen gathering other aquatic residents, possibly planning a fish protest demanding more environmental awareness and, of course, a larger supply of pastizzi. The fish community is excited, and who knew that in the Grand Harbour, you could find a Minister capable of swimming for a better future!
