VALLETTA — In a surprising announcement, the Maltese Government declared today that all future road signs will be replaced with giant stews. The new initiative is aimed at giving tourists a ‘taste of local culture’ while navigating the winding roads of the island.

Tourism Minister Karmenu Babb said, “Uwejja, we want visitors to really immerse themselves in Maltese life. What better way than with a steaming bowl ofċċupa? We believe stew navigation will lead to unforgettable memories, and interesting accidents.”

The new signs will feature massive pots of traditional dishes like rabbit stew, and ħobż biż-żejt. According to Babb, each stew will not only indicate directions but will also emit the rich aromas of home-cooked meals.

“Imagine a tourist trying to figure out where to go while dodging a rabbit stew in the middle of the road! That’s Maltese culture at its best!”

Critics, however, are skeptical. Local resident Marija Sciberras said, “Ara, I can’t even imagine the mess. How will we even know how to get to the Gozo ferry?”

Despite concerns, the government is moving forward, with plans to install the first stew signs at strategic locations like Sliema and Valletta’s main square. Construction crews were spotted preparing for the new culinary signage, complete with large wooden spoons for added effect.

Because, let’s face it, what’s a better way to guide tourists than with a good, hearty stew? At press time, discussions were underway to replace traffic lights with giant pastizzi.
