VALLETTA — In what can only be described as a ‘delicious’ misunderstanding, the Maltese government has announced that all public transport buses will now feature traditional ‘qassatat’ vending machines. This decision arose from the Ministry of Transport interpreting ‘improving routes’ as adding more snacks to the journey.

”We thought the people wanted tasty qassatat on their rides, not a faster bus service!” said Karmenu, the head of Transport Malta, while holding a steaming qassata. “We figured the more snacks, the happier the commute. Clever, right?”

The new initiative promises a menu of fillings including cheese, spinach, and even a meat variant for those who dare challenge their taste buds while stuck in traffic. “I can’t wait for my next ride to Birkirkara. Now I can enjoy a qassata and a three-hour wait in one go!” quipped Pawlu, a regular bus traveler.

Public Reaction Mixed

While some passengers are excited about this innovative approach to everyday travel, others feel that this change misses the point entirely.

“I love qassatat, but that won’t make the bus magically appear on time!”

In related news, other countries are now scrambling to re-evaluate their public transport strategies with reports of Finland considering implementing sauna rooms in trains.

At press time, the Ministry was in negotiations to add a pastizzi vending machine to flights at Malta International Airport because, as Karmenu said, “We can’t let people fly without snacks either!”
