LUQA — In a development that has left many scratching their heads, Malta International Airport has announced a new direct flight to Mount Olympus. Airport officials claim that thanks to their ‘mythical GPS’, no one will ever get lost, as long as they munch on the airport’s best pastizzi during the flight.

‘We realised that moving between the earthly and divine realms needed great direction,’ said airport spokesman Tumas Cassar. ‘So we integrated our famous pastizzi into a new GPS system. If you follow the smell, you’ll always be on the right path.‘

Divine Navigation

The airport is excited about this new route, which is set to launch before the end of the year. Passengers will not only enjoy the fluffy, golden pastizzi but also receive complimentary “mythical” maps that reportedly lead to the homes of Zeus, Hera, and maybe some good ġbejniet.

‘I can’t wait to meet the gods,’ said occasional traveler Carmen Debono. ‘And if I get stuck, at least I have pastizzi to keep me company on the way.’

Critics have pointed out that there are concerns over the environmental impact and practicality of landing an aircraft on a mountain known for its sheer cliffs and ‘intense divine traffic’. But the airport reassures everyone that safety measures include a series of “pastizzi parachutes” for emergencies.

Meanwhile, locals are ready to take on this heavenly journey. ‘If I can catch a ride to Olympus for some fresh pastizzi and a chat with Hercules, count me in,’ said Karmenu, a die-hard fan of anything that can be flown to on a Sunday.

At press time, the Planning Authority was reviewing how they could charge a landing tax on deities!
